ERP trend predictions for 2020

Published: January 27, 2020

ERP solutions are nothing new but their evolution and advancement never stops. There have been many exciting developments over the last few years, and 2020 will be no different!

Gone are the days of spreadsheet dependency or security limitations, the possibilities are now endless.

Here are some of our predicted trends for this brand new decade.

Artificial Intelligence

AI looks set to become a standard element of ERP, rather than just an add-on. ERP has the capabilities to bring together a wealth of data and by utilising AI technology, this data can be analyzed efficiently to produce actionable insights.

AI can learn from data to create workflows, and it can find ways to optimize business systems.

Small businesses are on cloud 9

Cloud-based ERP solutions have been around for some time, but now there are more cloud-hosted options than ever before. This can have huge cost savings for smaller businesses, which don’t have to go down the on-premise route that can have heavier maintenance costs.

We believe in 2020 that SaaS uptake will be huge. Customers love the flexibility and scalability of cloud technology, which benefits from the latest innovations.

For those that enjoy the benefits of on-premise and cloud-based, there are now options to implement a hybrid of the two.

Let’s get mobile

As with AI, having mobile accessibility will become a staple not just an extra. The modern worker cannot be tied down to a single machine, they need access 24/7, anywhere in the world – so being able to access systems via smart phones and tablets is going to become the norm.

Increased connectivity allows better communication, which leads to improved productivity.

Personalization

It is something we have always done at etac solutions but we believe this will become a more prominent offering across the board.

‘One size fits all’ ERP solutions will become less popular, as businesses take advantage of the increased scope to personalize and tailor an ERP around your business.

ERP to work with IoT

The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to physical devices that are connected via the internet. We will see more and more of this technology in the workplace, so inevitably IoT will need to be able to interrogate with ERP services and demand will rise for IoT compatible ERP systems.

IoT will be able to increase the data available to ERP services, which can improve accuracy and insights.
